Juliana Winthrop wakes up floating in the middle of nowhere completely alone, without even a name to identify herself with. She only has a voice in her mind telling her things she can't remember. Juliana is rescued from the water and taken in as a maid until her memory returns. When the head of the household's cousin comes to visit in distress Juliana begins remembering things and realizes she isn't who she thinks she is. She isn't even the species she believes she is, and to make matters worse her life is in danger. In a story full of remembering and finding one's self, Juliana has to remember who she is and take charge of her own life at the same time all while saving it and the lives of the people she has come to love.
