Enlightening Read

The treatment of black citizens in America has been of interest to me since learning of segregation. I have read all that I can find about the civil rights movement and how black people had to navigate the white south after Reconstruction. By Hands Now Known provides accounts of black men being mirdered by white law enforcement, bus drivers and others with impunity and with no legal consequences. It’s difficult to understand the hatred and mistreatment that black people endured for the sake of segregation. And the Federal Government standing by allowing black men, women and children in the south to be lynched indiscriminately, soldiers who fought for democracy in other countries and couldn’t find it at home. I’m more enlightened about the suffering and pain that black people have endured for centuries in this nation. And today who are we making America great again for?
