"By Chance" describes a certain kind of real life experience, which has happened to me in a different way, but is played out in a surreal manner using real life characters I have known or met. In other words, this is a "rags to riches" story of how through shear luck (or is it bad luck) one can have their life change in an instant. As explained earlier, the characters are real people that I know personally, either good, bad and/or ugly, which inspired me to write this book. Using sublime humor throughout, each character has an adventure towards a final conclusion, some winners and some losers. Does the small town bakery girl end up with the riches? Do the murders get solved? Does the private dick discover the clues of the insurance fraud? Does "Leg's Diamond" get away with his scam with his girlfriend to Vegas? Does Sheriff "Duffy Dorkin" discover who shot "Gary the Racket Balderdash?" Does the Sheriff's boy "Gummer Dorkin" finally get a date? All of this revolves around downtown San Antonio, the Market Square, and the Texas Hill country. In each scene you will see some aspect of the truths that we all have had experienced in some way. I found myself laughing during the development of this book thinking I can't believe I wrote this, but you know what, I know it was meant to be. I hope you enjoy the ride because I did and still do.
