John Doe tries to regain his memory and identity while being hunted down with his own invention. The present and future intertwine as John Doe's would-be assassin, Cameron, closes in on his objective. All the while, a mind war is being waged that, in the future, takes on the form of a global nuclear holocaust caused by a terrorist group known only as Noxius. The internet, a virtual and multi-dimensional wasteland, becomes the battlefield where battles are waged for hearts and minds... but mostly minds.
