A general guide to the game

Make sure you're buying the "Buzz Aldrin's Race Into Space Companion" and not the game manual. The Companion is divided into two parts. The first, slightly longer, section is a history of the Space Race, including information about proposals that never made it (such as the X-20) and how they fit into the game, if applicable. The second part gives installation instructions (no longer useful), information about how to play the game, and, finally, pointers on how to play it well. It also gives a history of how BARIS came about, from Fritz's first ideas about writing a space board game to the release of the CD version. If you're hoping for 400 pages of expert suggestions on how to beat your opponent, you'll be disappointed. But if you're looking for a book that gives a general view of the game, including historical background, game info, pointers, and that otherwise rounds out your understanding of the game, this is the book for you.
