This is one fantastic book and one intriguing author. I've read many books, and ever since I began practicing law the only types of books that I have been able to get to have been inspirational, miracle-filled stories. Mostly because I need the positive feedback somewhere in my life. However, I have always felt removed from those stories. McCoy offers me a touch of inspiration, mixed in with incredible wit and soft-hearted humor that touches upon everyone's heart, not just a law-infested individual. Her stories are provocative enough to make you think, kind hearted enough to make you smile, and encouraging enough to make you want to read one page after another. I haven't enjoyed a more thought-inspiring, smile-inducing collection of stories. This is truly a book one should get and enjoy, over and over. Kudos to McCoy for allowing readers a chance to enjoy what they are reading while learning, reminsicing and hoping.

Nancy McCoy's book is a collection of short stories revolving around people and events that have touched and formed her life. She has a wonderfully insightful talent for putting her perceptions and thoughts into words, enabling the reader to feel the same awe, astonishment, and comraderie that first compelled her to write. Her presentation in this inspiring tome is highly readable, and often humorous. I finished it in one night, and wanted to read more! Her heart is evident in her words....a highly recommended book!

Before I even begin to review this book, I would first point out that the reader needs to become acquainted with Harry Chapin. You may be asking why this is relevant. Well, Harry Chapin is a source of inspiration for the author, so you have to understand this from the outset. (For those of you who, like me, had no idea who Harry Chapin is, do you remember the song "Cats in the Cradle"?) Note to Harry Chapin having been made, I can move on to the book review. There are several aspects of this book that I really appreciated, so I will comment on the technical ones initially. First, I liked the structure of the book itself. Each chapter of the book is a separate story, so it's like reading a collection of short stories. Second, the author's tone is that of a story teller. When you read the chapters, you feel like you are having a conversation with the author.Apart from how the book is written and structured, there is something much more about this book. Honestly, the book is moving. In one way or another, almost every chapter moved me - whether it made me laugh or made me somber and serious, each story made me think and reflect a bit on my own experiences. If you are looking for a book in which to lose yourself, this is not the one. But if you're looking for a thoughtful and thought provoking peice of reading, this is the book that you want.Although it was extremely difficult, I have decided that my favorite chapter of the book is "The Cardiologist Who Wanted To Be A Flagman." It's not the most moving story in the book. It's certainly not the funniest story in the book. It's just a story that spoke to me at a particular time of my life.I think that if you read this book, you will find that there is a chapter that will speak to you too.
