Though Butch Cassidy, outlaw, lives on in legend, no one may ever know why the man known as Robert LeRoy Parker became a fugitive from law and justice. No other account will come closer to revealing... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I was really satisfied with this book. I am a real big Butch Cassidy fan, and this book is like no other book you will ever read about him. It is not about the nuts and bolts of his robberies, or the technical ins and outs of his profession. It is about his family life, his upbringing, and it gives the reader an inside into why he might have chose the path he did. To me, it answered all the questions that were important. Did he die in Bolivia? Did he come back to the states? Were he and Sundance really that close? Most importantly, what did he think of himself? Did he like guns? It really puts a more human side to the man, the myth that was Butch Cassidy. What would he think of all the hero worship today? Many "experts" have discounted this book, but the author (his sister) makes no bones about being an expert on the outlaw lifestyle. She just talks about her brother. I for one don't believe that a woman of her caliber in her eighties would make up a story to get attention. If you can, buy this book.
