A Cute Little Book -- a review of "Busy Day"

This is one of those books that they don't make any more. It has pictures of kittens dressed in clothes and put into tiny household settings. Lest you think that it is abusive to do this with kittens, the publisher has a note at the beginning of the book, pointing out all the precautions that were taken. And yes, I have qualms about it too. However, this book is definitely going to appeal to some small fry and ought to be considered for their library shelves. The story revolves around a family. Mom is out shopping and sister discovers that she has nothing to wear. She then cuts out, sews, and irons an apron to go with her dress, while her brothers play. Mom comes home to find a mess, and everyone helps clean up. There is usually just one line of text per page. Something of the nature of: "As soon as we make lunch, we can eat." And, "I wonder if Mouse wants to play with us." This is a cute book. The pages are not rugged enough for babies or even young toddlers, even though I think toddlers would enjoy this book as much as preschoolers. Pam T~ mom and reviewer for www.BooksForKids-Reviews
