Burton "Burt" Stephen Lancaster, born on November 2nd, 1913, 209 East 106th Street, Manhattan, New York, U.S, was an actor and producer. At first known for playing "tough guys", he went on to have success with more complex and challenging roles. Lancaster was nominated 4 times for Academy Awards, having won once for his performance in Elmer Gantry during 1960. He also won a Golden Globe Award for that role, followed by BAFTA Awards for Birdman of Alcatraz (1962) and Atlantic City (1980).
