Namely: a sculptural, Dionysian clerk lady of the Spanish consulate in Havana / a young assistant manager, social climber and fornicator, a rehearsal of Cuban yuppie / a noble housewife, as decent as full of erotophilia / an ex comrade-revolutionary whose only motivation today is his old automobile / a lucid psychiatric dissident woman / an outlandish gay, friend and teacher of handicapped boys and girls / a Down syndrome boy capable of winning a difficult game of chess for achieving the favor of the girl he loves . . .A novel in satirical key, in which Humor, Sex and Absurdity make a m nage trois in that Havana of the New Millennium, that of the Lengthy Especial Period.Without the pretension of becoming a Milesian tale, but taking in loan the tools of this latter, BUNS IN THE OVEN delivers itself to the risqu expression and the Picaresque, in its eagerness of being, via Burlesque Realism, a sort of shock to the system, an expressive knock for a country and its current times so needy of social transparency.
