Bunny Blue, Where Are You?

Losing a treasured stuffed animal, lovey, or blankie can be devastating and traumatic for both child and parent. A child may experience grief and loss. A parent may frantically try to replace the loss. An article in "Smart Parents," August 16, 2017 by Jassmin Peter-Berntzen discusses "5 Ways to Help Junior Handle Losing His Toy." This includes: "Acknowledging your child's grief. Avoid shoving a substitute toy at them immediately. Try not to keep their hopes up of finding the toy if that is improbable. Give your child time to feel sad and offer him/her comfort." Experts also say that a child who has loved a toy can usually love another toy. So you may be able to offer another toy to replace the loss, but this will need to be done with time, love, care and understanding. Emma searches for her lost friend in this sweet story. Her worry, concern and dedication to the search is quite sincere. Maybe this book, and/or the first book in this series, "My Truly Most Favorite Fluffy Friend," can be of some comfort to you and your child as you make the transition from one lost lovey to a new found friend. If your child has his own lovey, or has recently lost his lovey, he may share Emma's love for her friends. Reading this story with your two to five year old may also help them with the development of language skills. The story makes use of directional words. Children as young as two years old may begin to learn the concept of directional words such as: under, top, left, right, up, down, etc. "Bunny Blue, Where Are You?" is a beautifully illustrated story to be treasured by you and your child. If you are musical, you may enjoy using the melody of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," with the song Banjo Bear sings during the story as they search for Bunny Blue
