Understanding the phenomenon of bullying in public schools is of fundamental importance nowadays, given the major transformations that society as a whole is undergoing. In this sense, it is necessary to understand the particularities and unfolding of the phenomena of violence and bullying in the local context, making a decisive contribution to taking pedagogical stances to tackle the problems denounced. By checking out the students' representations of interpersonal relationships, we were able to gain a better understanding of how these relationships take place and the various ramifications of this issue. Reading the data on bullying in the light of Zygmunt Bauman's discussions allowed us to analyse the context more effectively and reflect on the need to improve the school climate and relationships between students, teachers and other school professionals.
