A very fascinating and well-written account of the struggles of the famous Henderson family, who were raised on a million acre property in the Outback of Australia by their American tycoon father and champion Australian tennis-player mother. Their mother Sara went on to become Australian Business Woman of the Year and well-known author. I was enthralled and amazed at the strength of the Henderson women, especially Marlee. Her versatility, adaptability, business sense, and pure strength fascinated me. It was Marlee who suggested that with a combination of hard work and good business sense they could save Bullo Station for the family and who put in arduous hours in support of this goal. She was always proud and supportive of her mother, nominating her for Business Woman of the Year. Sara's behavior towards Marlee in later years leaves me non-plussed. Without Marlee's hard work, intelligence, and support, Bullo River Station would not have been saved and her mother would never have won the award or become a famous author. Sadly, Sara seems to have become more and more like her ungrateful and difficult husband. If you have read any of Sara Henderson's books, as I have, you must read Marlee's book and try to answer this question for yourself. I am still immensely puzzled and saddened by Sara's behavior. Did fame and fortune reveal a dark side heretofore hidden in her? I will leave you to try and answer this for yourself. For me, I am left with admiration and respect for Marlee and her husband Franz, who, unlike Marlee's mother and sisters, have come out of this experience stronger and better people. I so admire Marlee and Franz for staying the course and not letting the surprising behavior of the rest of the Henderson family embitter them. Although the struggles at Bullo River Station are not over, I trust the station will some day be completely owned by its rightful owners. Marlee and Franz have worked the hardest to save Bullo, and deserve to be able to pass the station on to their two sons.
