As a fourth grade teacher, I started reading the companion book "Chickens in the Headlights" as an end-of-the-year read a couple years back. This year there was enough time for one more book and so we ordered "Bullies in the Headlights" to follow up. So, I read this book sight-unseen to my kids. Of course, it was hilarious. Of course, we laughed our heads off. But unexpectedly, toward the end of the book when the "humanity" comes through, this teacher started CRYING! Holy Cow! I usually only do that for that doggy book "Where the Red Fern Grows" . . . and after all these years, I usually only sniffle once or twice, but getting through this was tough! After "accidentally" beating up the Hagbart Brothers, the school bullies, at the Fourth of July Picnic in "Chickens in the Headlights", the Buckley Brothers have to reap the consequences once the school year begins. The question becomes, when should the pranks on each other end? This book is a wonderful story of friendship, brotherhood and learning to be tolerant of others.
