Unique View on Investment Risk Mgmt - one of the Bests

I bought this book what must be 12 years ago and have referred to it yearly since then. Now that it's 2008 and the future looks more fundamentally volatile then ever, I'm relying on it more and have even contacted Lefavi's investment management firm for the first complimentary consultation. The unique proposition I haven't read elsewhere is a thorough review of the really big financial disasters that could occur - depression, large-scale inflation, stagflation, etc - and investments to offset each of these. The investments are typically "long" but have a leveraging effect. For example STRIPs (zero-coupon bonds) give you much more bang for the buck than other bonds if you're concerned about recession/depression, yet they're equally safe in terms of default-risk as any other US government backed security. I highly recommend this read.

The best defense planning against inflation and recession/depression

I've read this book about 15 times, getting something new each time, and have used these theories of blulletproofing diversification against inflation and depression on my own portfolio for the last 12 years. His rationales and solutions are clearly explained, and based on his risk guidelines, I've chosen my own allocations to be 5% 30-year US Treasury Zeroes, 20% all other Bond Funds, 30% Large US Stock Funds, 7% Small US Stock Funds, 13% International Stock Funds, and 25% Real Estate REIT Funds. I only buy or sell to keep these proportions the same.
