Bulby, a red Christmas light made in Santa's Workshop for his sleigh, takes his first Christmas ride. Everything seems to be going great until Bulby falls from Santa's sleigh to the ground below. The journey he takes to get back to Santa and his sleigh will introduce him to a partridge, a Polar bear, and a reindeer.

Bulby ends up in a Christmas Tree on a Christmas Tree lot. From there he is taken to a new home with a wonderful family. The relationship he develops with the family's little boy, Teddy, will prove to provide a purpose for both Bulby and Teddy.
