There lives a beautiful young maiden named Buje whose beauty is admired by everyone in the land. Wealthy merchants, powerful chiefs, and even the king himself try to win her heart with rich gifts and promises of luxury. But Buje proudly rejects them all, believing that no man is worthy of her.

Far away from the attention of kings and nobles lives Kundi, a small but clever man known throughout the village for his sharp mind and mischievous tricks.
