Book Overview

Living on Solid Ground Most couples struggle at some point in their relationship with hard questions of marriage and family life, such as, what is God's primary purpose for marriage? What does it mean for a man to be the head of a home? Is divorce ever acceptable? How do we raise children who will love God? What does God have to say about the way we communicate, or about sexual intimacy? Authors Steve and Dee Brestin have wrestled with these questions in their own marriage and have found that God's Word is the only reliable blue-print for marriage and family life. This study will guide you through the encouragement that the Bible gives for those relationships. Jesus told us the storms will come and batter our homes, but if we obey him, our house will stand firm.

Very meaningful

Our group just finished this Bible study -- it was very easy prepare and lead. The Fisherman series is great for making sense. The chapter introductions set the stage for each lesson, and the lessons themselves usually focus on three or four passages each. Plenty of time for discussion, with plenty of scripture references. We also like that there is a symbol beside some of the questions. The symbol is the Fisherman logo, and it indicates that there is some context available in the notes section at the back. This is great, because it may contain other scripture, alternate translations, information about how the passage may be applied, etc. Very helpful. We try to do a lesson in 90 minutes. Some weeks we finished in time, other weeks not. There is a lot of information in these chapters. *** This particular study has a lot on husbands/wives and I think it operated from an understanding that the participants would be married people. Very nice study! Our group is sticking with Fisherman studies for the next one.
