Building The BnB
What begins as a plan to turn an underused room into a welcoming place for guests becomes a renovation, a steep learning curve, and an unexpected new direction in life.
In Building the BnB, Carter Matthews shares the honest story of transforming a tired room into a bed-and-breakfast suite. The work starts with dust, stubborn tiles, old fittings, and a room stripped back to its bare bones. From there come the plans, repairs, decisions, and setbacks that gradually turn the space into somewhere guests can feel at home.
Working alongside his wife, the author learns that building a BnB takes more than tools and good intentions. It takes patience, persistence, and a willingness to adapt when the project reveals surprises-and when hosting brings its own challenges.
Warm, practical, and candid, this is a story about making a place for others while discovering what might come next. For anyone who has looked at an overlooked space-or an unexpected turn in life-and wondered what it could become.
