All Parents and Educators Should Read

This is an excellent, easy to apply resource for parents who want to support their school. School administrators will discover many effective ways of partnering with parents to support student learning and development. I thank the Pennsylvania PTA for bringing this outstanding book to my attention!

Essential reading for concerned parents and educators.

Building Successful Partnerships clearly explains how to facilitate discussion, create an action team and a policy to follow, and then build a systematic plan to encourage parents to get involved. Based on interviews with local PTA leaders, teachers, principals, and experts from across the country, Building Successful Partnerships is an innovative resource for school/parent collaborations based on communication between home and school that is regular, two-way, and meaningful; promoting and supporting parenting skills; parental involvement in assisting student learning, parent volunteers to supplement classroom and school staff resources; parent partnership in school decision making and advocacy; community resources utilized to strengthen schools, families, and student learning. Each section includes quality tips, project ideas, and best practices drawn from successful programs around the country. Building Successful Partnerships is essential reading for concerned parents, teachers, and school administrators.
