Excellent Textbook

This is an outstanding text book: it offers clear and comprehensive information, presents examples and offers opportunities for students to practice the skills presented in each chapter. It was written to function as a textbook and does so very, very well. It is designed to sustain the students' focus on specific skills and challenges them to integrate those skills as they progress through the book. The author presupposes that becoming an effective counselor involves more than knowing about the skills. At the same time, the book reinforces the importance of being able to think about the helping process as a critical clinical skill.
