Responding to the return in popularity of Post-and-Beam architecture, Doug Rucker, having enjoyed a 54-year career as a Malibu house-architect and using his own work as illustrations, discusses the philosophy of what is now called Mid-Century architecture. The name Post-and-Beam originally derived from a new way of seeing truth in architecture: Posts rise from the foundation between wall-to-wall glass that grasp beams that support planks that hold the planks of the ceiling and roof. Seeing the truthfulness of the construction of a building became a single way buildings could freely give love to people. There were other ways as well. Ease of moving through the house, harmony in the house, and surrounding yourself only with things you love are other ways of Building a Home that Loves You.
