Excellent Overview of Major Phyla of Animals for Young Children

Includes: Insects, Spiders, Amphibians, Reptiles, Fish, Birds and Mammals. For each chapter there are characteristics of the animal, diet, defenses, habitats, reproduction and a featured animal. This book is full of reproducibles, arts and crafts ideas and experiments. It could easily be a homeschooler's science curriculum for one year, supplemented with great non-fiction picture books, for a young elementary child.

Chock-full of thematic ideas and exciting activities!!

This book pulls the pieces together with its thematic units that really go from bugs to bunnies! Its activities cross over with many areas of curriculum and I don't know how I would have approached animal units without it!

A Must-have for any teacher of young children. (K-3)

This book is full of enough fabulous ideas for science units for an entire year. They are cross curricular and developmentally appropriate. There are plenty of reproducible worksheets and bulletin board ideas.
