Since 1999, Myriam Gourfink has been developing a body of work aimed at creating a notation system for choreographic composition. She studies Laban kinesthetics, a system for analysing and transcribing dance movement, and uses the principles of kinesthetics to develop a compositional system which, in its capacity for prediction, could be likened to musical notation in musical composition. In 2002, following the award of a writing grant from the Ministry of Culture and Communication, Myriam Gourfink continued her research and developed, still based on Laban kinesthetics, a notation system intended for integration into computerised systems. In this book, she presents the methods of writing and reading in real time the open score of Bestiole, a piece for seven dancers, created in 2012.
