Many monks live in the forest when it is not raining. Before the wet season starts they are all called out of the forests back to their 'home' temples. Because they don't drive they often walk for days on the side of the road with their few possessions. Sometimes they walk alone and others in a group of 50 or more. Buddhist monks seek enlightenment, the same as Buddha did by meditating in forests away from the maddening crowds. This is in stark contrast to Christian ministers who own big cars, houses and private jets-not all I know. This book is about doing your spiritual seeking and helping others. Not just sitting around endlessly talking about how divine you are. The next time you feel holier than thou, I suggest you dig deep into your soul and ask why? I suppose we are judged on our actions.
