Buddha, the Gospel by Paul Carus, was originally published in 1894, and is his presentation of various traditional stories of the Buddha. The work was modeled on the New Testament and told the story of Buddha through parables. It was an important tool in introducing Buddhism to the west and is still used as a teaching tool by some Asian sects.
