Bucky Irving Biography: From Minnesota Roots To National Spotlight

The path that led to Trey "Bucky" Irving III's rise to stardom in collegiate football started in the Minneapolis suburbs. Irving, who was raised in Cottage Grove, honed his unique sprinting style at Park High School, where, despite his small stature of 5'10", his vision and elusiveness made him a four-star recruit. At first, Irving remained at home, committing in 2021 to the University of Minnesota. He only had 41 carries for 209 yards in eight games during his rookie season with the Golden Gophers as he adapted to Big Ten competition.
