Just as the patterns seen there change when the lens is turned, so do these poems change as the reader moves through the collection and encounters echoes, concepts and themes rendered into variant forms and dictions. Here each poem is an approach toward the creation of an independent reality. If the poems seem to build toward something that approaches a coherent or consistent statement then they do so in a manner similar to the way that a number of tangential lines may be said to define a circle. Intentionality, actuality, and the role that chance plays in shaping the dynamic between the two lie at the heart of many of the poems in this collection. Ultimately, however, it is the reader who recognizes the circle by following the threads of the tangential lines.
