This is a work of fiction and suspense/mystery, but like many good stories, it's rooted in something intriguingly real. Near-death experiences, first widely explored by Dr. Raymond Moody, have fascinated and puzzled people for decades. While the mystery remains unsolved, the accounts are often strikingly similar.

The moments depicted in these pages are inspired by conversations with individuals who, at least briefly, crossed that uncertain threshold and came back with stories they didn't expect-and couldn't quite explain. I've woven elements of those experiences into this tale, adding a layer of suspense, imagination, and just enough "what if" to keep things interesting.
