nancy drew means sweet valley

I found Brittan to be a very fun and adventurous book! It reminded me a lot of Nancy Drew meets Sweet Valley High (for all my '80's friends out there)! Brittan has interesting twists and turns in the plot and storyline. Smith keeps the characters full of life and makes them charming and fun to meet. I love the integrity of the characters and it made me a little giddy to know there were still some writers out there who believed in putting such characteristics into their characters. Smith really brought them to life, and I could not help but wishing there was more to read!

Romance Mystery

This is an enjoyable chick lit featuring three young, Christian women from well-to-do families, who join forces to become the Rose, a crime-solving clique. The three sleuths who make up the Rose consist of: Lorna, whose malapropisms add a touch of humor; Heather, whose karate ability provides some intense action scenes; and Britton, the progtagonist, who keeps her Glock 30 handy and knows how to use it. They solve crimes and anonymously help the police by leaving clues along with a rose. Although it's the third book in the trilogy, it can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone novel. The story moves along at a good pace; the characters are well-rounded and believable. There's a time when the reader will hold her breath and a time when she will sigh with satisfaction. It's a good choice for a light-hearted romance mystery.

I LOVE IT!

Move over Nancy, George, and Bess; there is a new team in town... I grew up on Nancy Drew. The teen detective helped to develop my love of reading. Perhaps it is not fair to compare The Debutantes to my childhood hero, after all this series is for a slightly older group. Girls ranging in age from 10-15 will love this series. Heather, Lorna, and Brittan love a good mystery and cannot help racing into the danger of an investigation. The three young women call themselves "The Rose." Brittan focuses on missing jewelry. Things soon become personal when a rose is left in place of a necklace implicating the girls in the theft. Their reputation is at stake, as well as Brittan's heart. She is attracted to two men, but is unsure which she should trust. I LOVE IT! There are not enough really good Christian books for young people. Brittan is worthy of making the bestseller list. Debra White Smith has a talent for drawing in her readers. She uses a touch of humor and a dash of thrill, along with mystery and danger. I love the way Smith incorporates faith in her books. I've stated that young adults will enjoy this book, but so will us older folk. If you enjoy a good mystery give this series a try.
