It's the hottest summer on record in Bristol, but the relentless heat is the least of the city's problems. A brutal, twisted serial killer has stalked the city, leaving a trail of panic and dead young women. With the body count rising, the police are desperate, and the city is under siege.
This is a case that will test the partnership between two very different detectives.
DC Dai Edwards is the old guard: a middle-aged man from the South Wales valleys, stuck in his old ways, battling his own demons and a brutal past he can't outrun. He's looking for the killer in the shadows he knows too well. His partner, DC Chloe Price, is the new generation: a fresh-faced detective with fiercely idealistic ideas for a broken system, determined to follow the rules while trying to change them.
With the pressure mounting and the body count rising, the two must work together, relying only on each other. If the jaded veteran and the determined idealist can't bridge their differences to trust the only person standing beside them, the summer of their lives will become Bristol's bloodiest.
