High school freshman Brian Riker is a fourteen-year-old with a genius level intellect. The son of neurosurgeon and cyberneticist Doctor Alfred Riker, he finds himself academically ahead of his peers, and something of a social outcast. His small circle of friends includes Rob, the nerdy son of the family security guard who is a big, former military man who is now a cutting-edge cyborg built by Doctor Riker after being horribly injured in combat. To the boys, negotiating the intricate social maze of high school and dealing with bullies is just their way of life.

But, given the nature of Doctor Riker's advanced work, there are obviously those who would want to take it for themselves, and going after Brian as a means of getting it is far from beneath them. Unfortunately, Ross can't be everywhere to deal with the rogue cyborgs who would go after the Riker family to get their hands on that technology.

And then, an amazing girl walks into Brian's life to complicate things in ways he had never imagined.
