Have you ever heard of the old saying, "No good deed goes unpunished"? This rings true in everyday life-especially mine. Putting your good will into the world doesn't guarantee that you will get the same in return. I'm convinced that the notion of giving people the benefit of the doubt is crap. Craziness. A ticking time bomb. I do believe that sometimes terrible happen to good people with the best intentions.

Does this make me a pessimist? Perhaps.

Alternatively, I've always tried to look at the bright side of things, and people. Life is too short, but life lessons have taught me that having those same expectations, and experiences are still rewarding when you have caution and boundaries in place. The old me; the naive me expected lies, deception, and betrayal from my enemies. Never from those I considered to be like a second family, and never those that I helped when I could barely help myself.
