Breeding rabbit: Raising Rabbits for consumption

Breeds of rabbits that are medium to big in size reach sexual maturity at 4 to 4.5 months, gigantic breeds at 6 to 9 months, and tiny breeds (such as the Polish Dwarf and Dutch) around 3.5 to 4 months of age. Rabbits of huge size reach sexual maturity at 6 to 9 months.
In female rabbits, the production of eggs is prompted not by a cyclical pattern of hormones as it is in human beings but rather by sexual activity.
There is a cycle of receptivity to mating that occurs in the rabbit; on average, rabbits are receptive to mating 14 out of every 16 days.
When the doe's vagina is both red and wet, she is at her most fertile.
Those women who are unable to get pregnant have a vaginal hue that is white pink and very little or no wetness.
Twelve days after breeding, a veterinarian may be able to detect the presence of fetuses in the belly of a pregnant doe.
