Breaking the Chains of My Childhood is an autobiographical tell-all that details the events from my childhood to my adulthood that have made me the woman that I am today. As a child, I led a very lonesome and neglectful life, having no one to care for me or offer me the love and attention that is essential to a young girl's healthy development. I suffered from poverty and emptiness. I had witnessed things that were horrible enough to permanently scar me. I was abused physically, verbally, mentally, and emotionally. I became a teenage mother and was raising two children on my own in the projects, but I was still a child myself. I was looking for love in all the wrong places, and it was only when I learned that God loved me and learned to love myself, that I was able to break the chains that once had me bound and reach my full potential. Heartbreaking as it may be, there are girls and boys, both young and old, who are either currently suffering in a situation such as mine or who were once there but still find it difficult to break free. By sharing my story it is my intention not to achieve the pity of readers for my hardships, but to encourage those who can relate that through God all things are possible and troubles cannot last always when you believe and obey Him.
