THE BEST HELP A FORMER LEGALIST WILL FIND!!!!!

I could never express in words how much this book has helped me!! Being born and raised in a highly religious legalistic environment, this book was the antidote for all the spiritual abuse that the legalistic mentality had inflicted on my life. I was a pastors wife of 40 years in a very strict religious denomination but Thank God my eyes are now opened and my spirit has been finally set free! This book is a must read for all who want and desire to see God as He really is and break through their bonds to freedom!!!

If the title resonates with you at all - what are you waiting for?

When trying harder isn't enough is a book that's long overdue to be written. This book is essential. Another great title I recommend to help is "Tired of Trying to Measure Up" by Jeff VanVonderen. You need to be free yet still serve the Lord. Get both of these books. They helped so much it's unbelievable. Joseph Prince Ministries is vital for your recovery too. "Destined to Reign" and devotional are excellent resources true to God's word. Highly recommended are his audio teachings and DVDs as well. That is if you want to get free. Because it's the truth that sets you free. The issue at hand here is understanding Grace. Legalism takes advantage of the brokeness of our soul and blurs the truth about God's love, God's role in your sanctification process, His character, who you are, and what Grace is: unmerited, undeserved favor for a lifetime based on who Jesus is, not what you do. It's not just for when you get saved, the war is over, this is about recieving from God in faith. Deliverance is vital in these areas and an ongoing process. But don't give up, there is hope - and God is faithful - pray and seek His face continually. Get the help you need.

one of the best books i've read

This book is a MUST read. I have read about 100 or more books, and this one really helped me UNDERSTAND things that I felt for so long but couldn't put words to. Trust me, if you are fed up with 'religion', but want a true walk with God, READ THIS BOOK.

I highly recommend this book to people who were raised in church

I highly recommend this book to anyone raised in the church and have a warped view of God and are not experiencing His love and freedom. I struggled my whole christian life because I believed I needed to obtain a level of standard in order to be in relationship with God but this book helped me find my freedom in Christ!

Excellent!

As one who has struggled with legalism for years, this book was a refreshing reminder that we cannot earn our salvation. Mr. Anderson and his coauthors highlight some of the symptoms of legalism and discuss the implications of falling into a legalistic lifestyle. This book helps strugglers to understand that it is by grace alone we are saved, not by any of our efforts, without negating the importance of holiness or belitting the problem of sin.
