Excellent read

Excellent read - I read it in one night with my one and three year old crawling all over me. I coach high school runners and appreciated the words. Good book.

RUNNING STORY WITH A TWIST

At little over 100 pages, this was a speedy read. While the author's writing style is a bit amateurish, the passionate rivalry for the state x-country title will hold the interest of running devotees. There's also an interesting, but rather mixed, message about the pros and cons of high mileage training. What jacks this up to four stars is a brilliant twist that caught me totally off guard.

great motivator for athletes that want to be the best

Stephen Paske really captures the intensity of an athlete dedicated to being the best at his/her sport, and what an athlete will endure to achieve a goal. Reading this book was a great trip down memory lane at some of my own high school running memories, and was also a great motivator to inspire me to continue to work hard to achieve my running goals.

Great Book for the High School Runner

As a cross country coach, I belive this book would be very motivating for runners on any team that are hungry for success. It's an easy, quick read, with a lot of descriptive content that truly brings out what it's like and what is necessary to be a strong competitive long distance runner. I bought everyone of the runners on my team a book for Christmas, hopefully it helps them this year with the summer training!
