Freud, at the beginning of his career (late 19th century), attempted to establish a theory based on physics with the aim of explaining the phenomenon of hysteria. However, upon discovering issues related to the unconscious, he abandoned this idea and inaugurated psychoanalysis in the early 20th century with his work The Interpretation of Dreams. During this period, the object of study of physics expanded from the laws governing matter to mental processes. Based on Lacanian readings and a reflection on the new concepts of physics regarding these processes, this work seeks to establish a dialogue between psychoanalysis and physics with the aim of developing a way of understanding experiences of transcendence as distinct from psychotic phenomena.
