Martha Jean Menya never felt as if she truly belonged when she was growing up in her Richmond, California home. As a young black girl, she was aware that she was different and looked down on by white Americans.

Following her heart, Martha made a drastic decision to leave the United States and begin a new life as a high-level public servant in Africa. Martha worked tirelessly to improve her community life for all.

Her greatest personal achievement was to become an ordained a priest in the Anglican Church.

Breaking Free is an honest account of one woman following her dreams-and finding that she can accomplish whatever she puts her mind to, once she's in the right environment.
