Very helpful with building vocabulary

I bought this dictionary for a Brazilian friend who already speaks and reads some English. It is most helpful for filling in the gaps in his vocabulary, but does not include many pronunciation or usage details. It is great for when he is reading and runs across an unfamiliar English word, and simply wants to know what the word means. For pronunciation and usage, a dictionary such as the Larousse Concise Dictionary gives more information. I gave my friend both dictionaries, and he mainly uses this one, then refers to the Larousse for details when needed.

Really good book!

It has Brazilian-Portuguese to English and vice-versa. It also includes LOADS of other info like useful phrases, proper grammar useage, conjugating verbs, prepositions etc, a pronunciation guide, asking questions, and some general facts about Brazil. Also includes travel help sections such as restaurants, transportation, shopping, entertainment and even safety (Brazil is not the safest country in the world). There is a list of things NOT to say or do as well. For example, the American "A-Okay" (sign formed with the thumb and forefinger making a circle) is a big insult in Brazil. Better to use a thumbs-up! Highly recommended!

I found this book to vey helpful as a reference guide while trying to learn the language using a software application.

Great!

This book has a ton of great information. It has a pretty extensive dictionary, important phrases, key verb conjugations. It's really easy to use and explains everything clearly. I am teaching myself Brazilian portuguese and this book is an excellent supplement to other learning materials.
