Brazilian here too!

I agree with you! My gilrfiend made a delicius "Moqueca", and she never went to Brazil! Great book!!!!

Brazilian Here

I am from Brasil and disagree with the statement that this is not an accurate book. Yes, some recipes have been modified, but they have been modified so that they can be made with ingredients found in the US. I think it's a very colorful and well planned book. I like how it looks at the different foods from the different regions. I myself am from the state of Parana where most of the coffee is grown and a lot of the cattle. I highly recommend this book.

good recipes, great travelogue

I used this book as the centerpiece of a gourmet dinner gathering featuring brazilian cuisine. Most of the recipes for the dinner came from this book and all were a hit!

A gastronomical tour of Brazil all in one gorgeous book!!!

The photos are so wonderful!!!!! This cookbook will not only give you great recipes and make your mouth water, but it will also give you a desire to go see for yourself!!! The "wanderlust" adventurer will want to go to the open air markets and try all of the spices and fruits that are not common in the United States. This cookbook is one of those that is also great reading and upon receiving my copy I just wanted to make myself a "Caipirinha" (lime, rum, and sugar drink) and scan all of the beautiful photos and recipe ideas!!! This makes a wonderful gift for all of the cookbook collectors on your list!!! This book has a glossary and also a good source list of ingredients in stores in the U.S. And if the travel bug gets to you...there are some travel suggestions too!!! Don't forget your visa!!! Boa Sorte! (Good Luck)

My favorite Cookbook!

Brazil, a cook's tour, is the only Brazilian cookbook that I use, the recipes are not for the beginner and you need to start early if you want to use fresh ingredients. But the end result is worth it. The "Molho de Pimienta Malagueta" is delicious and one of the few things that are easy to do. The "Quindão" is a coconut cake that your kids will love. I always impress my Brazilian friends with the recipes from this book, of course, I keep it a secret. And one of the best parts of this book is how Christopher takes you on his journey around Brazil without you realizing you are reading a cookbook. I love it so much I decide it to feature it in the recipes page of my homepage.
