Brave New World-and-"1984"-in-2015

Two of the most famous and enduring anti-utopias, "Brave new World," and "1984" were reviewed and discussed by the author in terms of each other and of our own time - 2015 - It is understood that there are different ways to be conditioned and different forms of totalitarian control, and Huxley and Orwell showed two of the most effective ways in novels that involved the reader directly. The author suggests that we are now in a technopoly (surrender of culture to technology) and, perhaps, on our way to teknosis (complete domination of technology) in which our quest for certainty may be realized, but at a great expense of the loss of human experience and the old reality that was more mystical and holistic and less merely rational and analytical. We have our own soma, our own screens, and we look upon what was a regular life in native times as savage, and this includes childbirth, motherhood, and a natural-organic way of living. The two novels seem to be a warning, a prophecy, and a signal for us, and we may need their messages.
