If you have been around the military a while, you have had or know others who will tell you, without a doubt, God intervened and prevented a tragedy. "Red Skies" is a great collection of such testimonies. These are not sea stories but personal testimonies of real people in real life crises. The Corpsman, who ignores bullets, bravely doing his duty to save a life at the severe risk of losing his own. Colonel O'Leary does a great job placing the reader in the WWII battle for Okinawa. You read of LT Atkinson, SFT Brenkert and CPL Christensen, fighting as part of Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, as they miraculously survive as swarming Japanese ambush. Then go to the Battle of "73 Easting" during the first Persian Gulf and see how a God-sent "Shamel" storm turns to the Coalition's advantage allowing US Forces to gain the upper-hand in this very intense tank battle. I really appreciated this book since I read it in various waiting rooms of Walter-Reed Army Medical Center. There is something about seeing some of our most recent combat wounded as you read of bravery, sacrifice, and faith to make such reading so very rich. God bless our fallen and wounded. God bless America!

Colonel Jeff O'Leary has compiled a truly remarkable book, honoring those who have served their country and their God. For those who feel conflict in serving in the military with their Christian values, this is the book for you.

The variety of contributors makes this book very interesting to read. One can learn from the stories. From pilots manouvering, from different wars, from children's views and mother's hopes, this book is worth every penny for purchase and every minute of reading. The WWII songs on pg 41 and 42 were a riot, captured but not forsaken truly was one of my favorites -can't give away the plot - but just writing about it gives me goosbumps! The stories of war through the eyes of a child were so charming and childlike and full of faith. Everyone in this book showed courage, hope, faith and this book will have great influence.these history lessons won't bore anyone! Thanks for writing and organizing it, Col. Jeff O'Leary! Anna

The stories in this book are so real. I wrote several of them and to see thim in print and to read them again touched my heart. I wandered over to the other stories and find them full of courage, pain, victory. I can see God working in each story. War is tragic but reading these stories I can see such courage coming forth and each person shows such intersst in humanity and in faith. I already ordered thirty books and was given 9, 19 just flew out of my hands, my friends grabbed them and I am receiving such positive reports. Col. Jeff O'Leary did a wonderful job putting these stories together. He researched and wrote information, so well worth the money to buy this book and have it in the local library and personal library at home. An honor to be published in it! Hope every soldier gets a copy, their parents, the families of those who had to have much courage in this war we just fought. They too will go down in history as brave men and women, just like the ones in the book. I am donating a copy to my local library also. It will be a very succesful book because it speaks to the heart and emotions. The military forces are to be recommened for training such courageous soldiers. So full of the American spirit. The Right STUFF! A great gift to give for Fathersday also. I gave copies out in our church for Mothersday! And the MOMS loved it! Just spoke with a gentleman who received a copy from me, he said "I am paying for the book and I am sending you the money in the mail. It is fantastic!" He told me to write some more of those great stories! I thank Col. O'Leary for his professional attitude through this whole publishing effort and Cooks for publishing it and allowing me to share my childhood stories!Sincerely, Dr. Anna Rich

This book includes inspiring stories from people who span the generations from older adults to children. The stories carry a consistent message that God answers prayers during the crisis times in life. A common theme is that God offers peace in the most trying circumstances. The stories do not sugar coat the realities of war. In that regard, some stories are difficult to read, but they need to be read nonetheless. These stories review the stark reality that all people face difficult times and God is consistently with them when they cry out to Him. The stories are worth reading over and over. I was inspired by the stories which related the power and consistency of prayer by the parents of many of the Brave Hearts. The book offers great encouragement as we all face the various trials of life.
