Garold Andersen is clearly the real deal. He has produced a warm and beautiful welcome mat for new Christians, struggling Christians, reluctant Christians, and scared sinners, encouraging them to come on in through God's door. It is humbly eloquent, honest, and loving. Beyond the purity of its message, it is easy to read and the perfect length. Anderson's view of Christianity will be called bold by some, I am sure, because of its stripped-down, un-religious perspective, but I think it gets back to what Jesus was surely all about: acceptance, forgiveness, humility, and love. I do not claim this lightly: this book is great.
An absolute gem!

This book would be great if it were only a collection of life stories, but it's so much more than that. This is a travelogue of a journey with the Almighty Creator of the universe and His many lessons that are offered in the most unsuspecting of ways. How does God move through our silence? Could our zeal for Him actually be inhibiting our relationship WITH Him? In reading this book I am more convinced than ever that God is reaching out to the world in new and exciting ways. With all due respects to Oldsmobile, this "relationship with God" thing is not your father's faith. Instead, it's a brand new bag.
Christ out of the Boxes

"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there," said Will Rogers, and so begins a book that is turning staid Christianity on its head. Andersen's book is full of personal stories of honest and unusual Christian witnessing and wisdom that will ring your truth detector. It's about evangelism based on communication with God and integrity that refuses to live what is the standard-form Christian lifestyle -- plus scripture throughout in modern Andersen translation. Garold Andersen is a rare and real example of deep and honest commitment to God, the "not I, but Christ" kind not many of us Christians ever see. On the cover of the book, Andersen explains, "At one point in my life, I began to journey with God. Sometime later I stopped. I thought I had arrived. I called myself a solid Christian. In reality I was stuck in a rut." This book has the answer to the modern dilemma of Christian ruts and dying churches, but it isn't a formula; it's a journey toward the heart of God...where we all want to end up. Already this book has excited so many people. It is fun; it's easy-reading. It explodes our narrow view of who God is and how He works. If you feel stuck in your life with God, and you don't think you've heard from Him for a while....or ever, this is an invitation.....take the challenge, seek God anew. This is an authentic journey, and you'll know that from the first page on. You'll find yourself in this book if you open it with an ache for more of God.
