Ted and his wife, Vanessa, live in Freetown, Massachusetts, where twenty-five years ago, their eight-year-old Johnny was chased by bullies into a mysterious forest. After the bullies vanished from the trees, Johnny met a man who said he will make him like a superhero, but will transform him into a cannibalistic monster. Johnny accepted the offer, paid the deed, and disappeared into the woods. In the present, Ted is driving with Vanessa after having dinner with his brothers and sister. As they are driving by the forest with his siblings driving behind them, one of the trees picks up their cars and throws them into the forest. Everyone gets out of the cars, where they have to survive from terrifying creatures and discover what really happened to Johnny.
