When Bowe the zebra is born in Africa, he is beautiful, but different. His stripes are bright and colorful. He longs to be black and white like the other zebras. He and his family hear about a Mighty One, a wise one who could possibly help Bowe become what he thinks is normal.

Bowe sets off on a journey through the dense jungle, across the plains, and a swift river to find the Great Mountain where the Mighty One lives. On his adventure, he encounters other animals and helps them with his kind acts. He saves KiKi who leads him through the dense jungle, he attacks a giant snake; and hes chased by a pack of hungry lions.

Finally, he reaches the base of the great mountain and makes an exciting rescue. But will Bowe find the Mighty One and realize his wish of becoming like all the other zebras?
