Light fun read

I enjoyed Esri Rose's "Bound to Love Her". It was an unique fun reading book, the author's first. The unique hook to the book is Galvan, our hero, is an elf. Not a lot of romance paranormals out there with elves. It was a nice change from the vampire/shapeshifters that are the norm. I liked the characters and seeing how Erin and Galvan bonded, whether they wanted to or not and how she eventually came to care deeply for him. Enough on storyline. If you read books just for the heavily detailed sex scenes, this book isn't for you. There are sex scenes in the book and they light, leaving a lot to your imagination ... which is fine, it fit well with the rest of the story. In other words the sex scenes are there but not in your face sort of description. I'm glad I needed an extra $3.99 to make my order and picked up this book. I'm also glad I didn't read the reviews first, half of them were good the others so-so. If you're looking for a fun light book, with light sex scenes that isn't your usual vamps and such, give this book a try. I think you may enjoy it too.

Funny, Irreverent, Sexy Elves

Don't be turned off by the cover. Rose has crafted a fascinating take on modern elves. And whether they're rural elves, living off the land, or their more urban brethren, attending city council meetings, you can count on them to be witty and sexy.

Fun, escapist and inventive

Esri Rose's debut book, Bound to Love Her, is fun reading. Very inventive and bounces along nicely with a dialogue and plot driven story. I enjoyed it very much - fun and fast reading!

He followed me home...can I keep him?

If Esri Rose wonders whether her online ad, done in LOLcat style, was effective, she need wonder no longer. It had me laughing my you-know-what off. When I saw it, I knew I needed to give this book a try. I'm glad I did. _Bound to Love Her_ is a lot of fun. The story begins when Erin, who works at a New Age store but is nonetheless a skeptic, finds a handsome man half-dead while on a hike. His name is Galan, and his story is almost unbelievable to Erin--he's an elf, and weakened by the dastardly deeds of a dark elf (dark elves are elves who feed off the negative energy released when wild land is destroyed by humans). Soon, though, Erin has no choice but to believe, because Galan needs Erin's energy in order to survive and fight back, and Erin too is in danger from Fellseth. Meanwhile, as the threat from Fellseth grows more dangerous, Erin and Galan begin to have feelings for each other. Their romance is sweet but poignant; they believe the relationship is doomed but hope desperately that it isn't. The secondary characters are delightful, especially Lily, the shop's owner; Jed, Erin's gamer-geek roommate; and Kutara, a domineering tech-savvy elf who's far more decent than her icy facade suggests. I hope Esri Rose writes more in this 'verse and revisits them. _Bound to Love Her_ is a fun, quick summer read at an excellent price, full of romance, humor, and suspense. Fans of paranormal romance and urban fantasy are likely to enjoy it.

A magical debut you're bound to love.

Everyone in Erin Chandler's world of present day Boulder, Colorado, knows that elves are found only in fairy tales and movies, right? Wrong! While walking her elderly neighbor's dog through the woods one night Erin discovers a dying man - a tall, buff, incredibly gorgeous, pointy-eared, dying man - who turns out to not be a man at all, but an elf! The bond between Galan of Longtail Rock and the land that keeps him alive has been broken by the evil dark elf, Fellseth, and Galan is struggling for his last breath when Erin's touch inexplicably infuses him with energy and renews his life force. A life-giving bond between the two is created in that moment and neither of their lives will ever be the same. Erin finds herself in the midst of a community of elves struggling to hold on to their life-sustaining lands while battling the dark elf intent on killing them by stealing those lands and the humans who are unknowingly destroying the natural habitat that the elves have occupied for hundreds of years. Erin joins forces with Galen and the other good elves to defeat Fellseth but just when they think they have him outwitted, the dark elf sets his evil sights on Erin. It's a testament to Rose's superb writing skill that I was able to suspend belief and immerse myself completely in this fast-paced, delightful and emotionally satisfying, magical tale. The relationship between Galan and Erin is romantic and frequently poignant while at the same time sprinkled with the humor you would expect when bringing together a practical, independent, 21st century woman with a sexy, sensual, supremely confident elf who has been around for more than 250 years. The crisp dialogue kept me turning pages late into the night and whet my appetite for more elf tales from this gifted debut author.
