In his frank and honest autobiography, Jamie Lindsay pulls no punches. He documents his life of crime in the West of Scotland, and his making the courageous decision to break his addiction to drugs and give up the life of crime that fueled it. Having had a challenging early life in Bourtreehill, a small town in Ayrshire, Scotland, Jamie got drawn into petty criminality. By his early twenties, he had become an adept credit card hustler and bank cheque fraudster, and this led on to his using cannabis. He then took to dealing drugs, initially cannabis, then later cocaine and crack. He served a number of short prison sentences for fraud and supplying drugs. He recounts the craziness of his wild lifestyle and his times in jail, often managing to find the humour in his experiences. When he was entering his forties, Jamie decided that his criminal lifestyle was unsustainable, ruining his health and relationships. Through his own efforts he managed to break his addiction to heroin, and was determined to be free of his former criminal life. While recovering from his addiction Jamie decide to write a short account of his experiences. It became this full-length book. He wanted to show, in graphic detail, the nature of the life he had led, and the impact it has on relationships, in the hope that some young people reading this book might be turned away from embarking on a life of crime and drugs. Jamie has bounced back and become free of the drug and criminal lifestyle and hopes this book can be an object lesson to others who might wish to take this wrong path in their life. It's a tough read in places, but Jamie's humanity and strength of will shows through.
