Johnny Montani was maliciously labelled an Underworld Figure a Bikie and a Murderer by corrupt Police SUNDAY TIMES newspaper article written by Colleen Egan 03 November 2007 "Police investigating the Corryn Rayney murder have raided the house of an Underworld figure, seizing many of his belongings for forensic testing. Two months ago, the Bikie is understood to have been questioned by Police for more than eight hours, News Limited has reported. The Bikie associate, who has been accused of murder in the past, was a defendant in a case that was handled by Mrs Rayney's lawyer husband, Lloyd. He is understood to have been questioned by Detectives for more than eight hours about whether he was involved in the death of Mrs Rayney, a Supreme Court Registrar, two months ago. A warrant was executed several weeks ago at the man's suburban Perth home and the property seized included his bed sheets. The man is believed to have gone overseas soon after the raid. It is not known whether the trip was planned. The Sunday Times did not name him for legal reasons. Police believe he is responsible for at least one killing in Perth in the past few years that has not resulted in a conviction. A police spokesman would not confirm yesterday the raid on the Underworld figure." In light of this damning adverse publicity the State of Western Australia dramatically won the appeal to overturn Johnny Montani's acquittal in the slaying of notorious Outlaw Bikie gang member Kevin 'Mad Mick' Woodhouse. Montani returned to Australia voluntarily from Thailand on 24 March 2008 to face trial for a third time charged with Wilful Murder and after a six week trial the Supreme Court Jury returned a resounding not guilty verdict. It is interesting to note that in Colleen Egan's article the Police could not confirm that the raid took place, but the Police had obviously given the reporter detailed information and had omitted the fact that Johnny Montani had a cast iron alibi for the night that Corryn Rayney had been murdered. The police can and do act with impunity in the State of Western Australia, so when they make it their business to orchestrate ruining an innocent person's life, they never admit liability when they get it completely wrong. The Police in Western Australia hide behind saying that they cannot reveal any details or their methodology to protect the integrity of an ongoing investigation. West Australian Police tried unsuccessfully to frame Johnny Montani over the two very high profile unsolved murders of notorious Bikie turncoat Kevin 'Mad Mick' Woodhouse and Supreme Court Registrar 'Corryn Rayney' without any reasonable prospect of success in obtaining a conviction. Johnny Montani had not been involved in either case and nor had he been involved in any criminal activity to warrant having been publicly outed as Perth's public enemy number one.
