An excellent and astoundingly complete source of Information on Heart Health

This book (a) identifies lesser known risk factors for cardiovascular disease as well as the more familiar risk factors, (b) identifies illnesses that often precede cardiovascular disease and (c) provides the most current conventional advice on what one should do to improve ones odds in preventing diseases that precede cardiovascular disease as well as cardiovascular disease itself. Similarly, this same advice can improve existing precursor and cardiovascular diseases. I give the book 5-Stars. It is simply at the top of the list, by far, of other books in publication that I either own or have otherwise read (from library / bookstore book scans).

Everyone should know what is in this book! Really, everyone.

In reading this book, I was astounded at how little I knew about the coronary/vascular system. "Healthy Heart" is not a medical journal as such. It is written for the common person to read. It spells out and explains the twenty risk factors for heart deaease. Yep! Twenty. Everyone should know what is in this book. Every man, woman, and parent. According to Mogadam, more and more research is showing that very early stages of heart desease starts as early as infancy. This book promotes no other agenda other than healthy heart. It is not a fad diet book, although it does provide a guideline for making healthy choices in our diet. I am not a person that jumps on every cause that comes along, but this bandwagon ride is going to be well worth your fare. After reading "Healthy Heart," you will understand what all what this stuff is about HDL, LDL, triglycerides, blood glucose and how it all works together in your body, good and bad. I would not consider this book and easy read. I have had to read, and reread certain areas to really get it, and likely you will too, but do it.
